Brookside Farm in Cheshire is probably one of the most ambitious
farm development projects undertaken in recent years. Richard Fair
embarked on the project of building a Greenfield site that would
not only provide excellent cow housing and facilities for a large
dairy herd but would also provide a place of education for farmers,
discussion groups and perhaps most importantly school
children.
With many a hurdle met on the way - not least the planners, then
the builders, the project reached completion with the first cows
milked in 2005 and discussion groups now using the excellent
conference facilities.
With all the changes, decisions and difficulties that are faced on
such a big project Richard Fair' choice was a difficult one with so
many options available however Richard comments "After visiting
various milking machine manufacturers factories and viewing many
installations I felt the only choice to meet my requirements was a
60 point Dairymaster Swiftflo Revolver. Now I am convinced that my
decision was correct and that this is the only way to milk large
herds. Throughout the planning and installation stages the
Dairymaster team were fantastic and the support we have for the
Dairymaster parlour has been top class, it has cemented the fact
that we made the correct choice and is catering for all of our
needs. Its milking efficiency is fantastic with currently 500 cows
being milked thoroughly within 2 hours."
With 2 draft units, auto ID, 2 feed types and full Dairymaster
revolver automation the unit is capable of milking many hundred's
of cows with minimum stress on both the operator and animals.
